Build bridges not walls


Before becoming President, Trump was a well-known businessman. During his Presidential campaign, he became even more famous. One of the reasons he became famous was for his notorious campaign Promises. His most famous promise perhaps was that the United States was going to build a wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. This method of his was plain and simple, a campaign document read “It’s an easy decision for Mexico: make a one-time payment of $5-10 billion”. He believed Mexico would just hand over the money like that because of their need for American money. After realizing how dumb of an idea this was, he is now looking at new ways to keep his promise.
The wall should not be built for several reasons. In my opinion, I believe one reason the wall should not be built is because of the symbolic meaning behind it. To me the wall represents segregation, it is a message from the American government that the relationship between Mexico and the United States is a parasitic one.
We know that Trump has also impacted the environment in a negative way. Another reason why the wall should not be built is because of the environmental impact it will cause. A physical barrier as big as the wall would “bisect the geographic range of 1,506 native animals and plants” according to National Geographic’s Laura Parker. A barrier would affect the migration patterns of many endangered species putting them at greater risk.
These are just a few of the many reasons why the wall should not be built. The wall is nothing but a win for Trump it is a statement of “I get what I want one way or the other”. I am in no way saying that there is an immigration problem, but there are better ways to handle the situation.

Teen Vaping

This is a response to Sean Mills’ post about teenvaping . I really liked the points discussed. Sean talks about the impact of teen vaping and he uses numbers to back up his statements. Sean informed us by giving us the name of the harmful chemical causing all these deaths, I would also like to add that this chemical was not only found in tobacco products, it was found in marijuana cartridges as well. This is something amusing to me as vaping products were made for our conveniences but at the price of our health. My first reaction to this post was that I agreed with the government stepping in because it would hold the vaping companies accountable. This would improve the health of the individuals who otherwise would continue to use these products. Soccer, a Universal Language

Soccer or football, however one may call it, is the most popular sport in the world. According to worldatlas.com it is estimated that at least half of the global population consider themselves soccer followers. It is also a known fact that we have a crisis at the border with thousands of children flooding in, many within the single digit age range. A big majority of these kids come without adult supervision, regardless of this, they want the same thing the adults want, a chance at a better life. Luma Mufle, from the Dallas Morning News talks about the controversial decision the Trump Administration has made, which is end recreational programs for kids in shelters. The administration decided to take away the opportunity to play soccer from these kids as they deemed it “not directly necessary for the protection of life and safety”.
