Love in America

On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court held in a 5–4 decision that the Fourteenth Amendment requires all states to grant same-sex marriages and recognize same-sex marriages granted in other states. Andrew Sullivan speaks about this very important decision made and how it has affected same-sex couples. I chose his post “ It Is Accomplished ” because I wanted to gain more information on the subject from someone who identifies as a conservative homosexual man. Sullivan begins his post by explaining to us the different legal hardships people have had to endure to legalize same-sex marriage. He describes that “For many years, it felt like one step forward, two steps back”. I would also like to remind us that homosexual people have had to endure much worse hardships than trying to legalize same-sex marriage, such as hate crimes and violence. Soccer, a Universal Language

Soccer or football, however one may call it, is the most popular sport in the world. According to worldatlas.com it is estimated that at least half of the global population consider themselves soccer followers. The administration decided to take away the opportunity to play soccer from these kids as they deemed it “not directly necessary for the protection of life and safety”. Mufle argues that this is a very bad decision and she talks about the negative impact it has on the children.        ...

Area 51

Area 51 is the common name of a highly classified United States Air Force facility located within the Nevada Test and Training Range. It is believed that the facility has top secret discoveries there. Some people believe that many of the discoveries in that facility are alien related. Area 51 has gained more attention ever since a post named “Storm Area 51” was created on Facebook. Fox News covers the excitement around this facility in their article, it covers a “community” of alien believers in Nevada. These believers set a satirical “storm area 51” base camp for a weekend. The base camp is not to raid Area 51, but to find like minded people. Whether you believe Aliens are real or not, it is definitely worth the read. The more information you receive on a subject, the more of an informed opinion you can give.
